I've compiled a chronology of Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II from official sources for myself with unnecessary soliloquy notes. It is all based on the information found in the Megami Tensei I・II soundtrack booklet and the guidebook "Megami Tensei II no Subete".

A time of relative peace. |
August 199X |
A new type of nuclear bomb was suddenly fired from the capital cities of the United States and the Soviet Union (Russia?). War broke out and all telecommunications ceased, causing chaos. No one seems to know what caused the fighting to start. The current situation is unknown. (Are they still fighting after that?) |
October 2010 |
A nuclear bomb was dropped on Tokyo. One of the new types that started the war. While the city suffered a significant amount of damage from the war, Tokyo was not a direct target until now. In and around the Keihin Third Fallout Shelter, the two upper floors were severely damaged by this bomb, as was the surrounding region. (257 residents of the shelter died.) Since then, the two lower floors of the shelter have been sealed from the outside world. Because this type of nuclear bomb destroys weather systems, it caused soaring atmospheric temperatures and severe low-pressure systems. A dimensional rift forms during the explosion. From there, the demons appeared. |
2036 |
Pazuzu is revived. Bael's subordinate, Nebiros, attacks the shelter (86 people now live on the bottom floor, B4F, of the shelter.) |

Regarding Pazuzu's appearance in the game.
There seems to be an Internet connection, which Nebiros accessed.
Nebiros appears to have entered the shelter through a remote connection.
(Raindare's note: there's nothing surprising about this by itself, since demons can be stored as data in this universe.)
However, the only computer seems to be on B4F, where people live.
Why was Nebiros on B1F, an uninhabited floor?
In the description of Yumenoshima, it is noted that there are no fish left in the river.
Finally... a mention of food...
It seems my hopes of seafood were dashed...
I wonder if people get protein from demons now...

Devil Busters
The name of the special demon corps is cool...
It might not matter, but were there Devil Buster Busters? Like Jack Frost...
(Raindare's note: there were indeed "DBBs" or Devil Buster Busters in IMAGINE.)
(They were special variants of regular demons that were stronger and nearly impossible to recruit.)
The Tokyo Tower witch's age
Considering that the witch is 18 years old in 2036, she was 12 years old when Pazuzu was sealed 6 years ago.
She was born in 2018.

If Pazuzu and Bael have been fighting it out since 2010, they've been at war for nearly 20 years.
