Splatterworld

This page is a general catalogue of various information and remarks about the previously unreleased Namco RPG for the Famicom, Splatterworld. It shares clear DNA with the original Megami Tensei, also by Namco, and has an excellent candy-coated "Creepy cute" aesthetic combined with surprisingly robust RPG mechanics and exploration.
Progression Hints
Here I (raindare) will describe the means to progress past certain points in the story where Interipelli and I encountered some issues.
#1: Ghoulma City
When you arrive in Ghoulma City and meet Greddy's (adoptive?) mother, she will ask you for your help in finding out which of the orphans is a monster in disguise, who ate one of the other orphans. That orphan is buried next to the tour bus where Greddy lives, so you'll need to do the following:
- Examine the gravestone directly left of the tour bus.
- Take the Orphan soul and speak to the rightmost orphan inside the tour bus.
- Defeat the monster.
After that, you should have a fairly straightforward goal.
#2: Hanarejima (Trap Island)
Once you first arrive on Trap Island, and after meeting a certain oft-bullied character, you'll need to obtain a specific soul. Rather than being provided by a boss, it's provided by a random encounter with a giant roach-like monster. You can also trigger a fight with one by examining the meteorite in the southwest area of the map. With this soul in hand, talk to the girl on the north side of town near the forest, and then talk to Damian inside the forest.
Special Channelling
If you give your party members. three specific souls and have them all use Channelling together, you can perform a powerful special attack. There may be more combinations than those listed here, even for the same Special Channelling. Most of them take the form of a gigantic creature a la Final Fantasy's summons, though you'll quite possibly summon something weirder than a dragon king.
Human + Scylla + Lion = Sphinx
Rabbat + Rock Snake + Needle Lizard = Dragon
? + ? + ? = Beautiful Girl
