Black Matrix OO (Double-Oh)

The final Black Matrix game, and the final PlayStation game.

Like the other Black Matrix games, Black Matrix OO combines visual novel elements with Tactics Ogre inspired battles in a world where angels and demons vie for control of the known world of humans in a medieval fantasy landscape.

Black Matrix OO starts with the initial premise of Black Matrix Zero on the Game Boy Advance and revamps it with a whole new story, a completely different set of maps with less conventional combat scenarios, a vastly expanded cast of characters, some of the best sprite work and pixel art on the console, an excellent soundtrack alternating between chipper JRPG music and heavy metal riffs, and a significantly more complex combat system.

Its release was supported by two drama CDs and a small series of web-only short stories intended to expand on cast members that didn't get much time in the game itself.

It wouldn't be far off the mark to call it Berserk with kids. Though, like Majin Tensei, if you're willing to seek out side quests and make the right dialogue choices, you might be able to find a happier ending for Cain and his friends...
